I picked him up in place of Konerko and I'm loving this guy. He's been ON FIRE, so I'll ride him for as long as i can. If he does slow down, hopefully Konerko heats up :)))

Ok, so i asked this question a long time ago and went with my instincts and picked him up and have been riding him all year. If you look at how he is hitting it looks like he finally has turned into what he was supposed to. Most of his HR, 10 or 11 are to CF and he is not longer pulling the ball. His splits show he is still stuggling with Lefties, but he has only had 22 AB's so that could change. I have seen every game he has played and he looks good. Do you guys agree with me that he has finally turned it around?

I said almost the same thing in the thread below. I don't remember him keeping up for this long or going the other way with the ball as often as he has.

He made an adjustment to his swing in ST with our Hitting coach and it has had him hitting the ball back up the middle a lot

opposite field too. He has more HR to LF than RF. I wish the Rays would keep him in against lefties

Me too. He's the only guy hitting the ball out of the damn park for me right now.

I picked him up when the Rays gave him the job in early April thinking he would start hot and than i could trade him and have LaRoche start his hot streak in May which would coincide with a trade, but i have to keep Pena and now i am looking to trade LaRoche :-°

deerayfan072, I am in the exact same situation. I picked up Pena after the hot start, then traded for Laroche to take over for him when he cooled off as he has been accustomed to doing, but he just keeps hitting, as Laroche rots away on my bench. Pena and Guthrie have been my two waiver finds so far this year, and both are working out very well as Guthrie has given 3 hits and 9 ks through 6 tonight!
