He was a very good young player. IIRC, the A's rushed him and then kind of babied him and finally traded him.
I was a big fan at the time. His trade to the Tigers was the coup de gras to his hitting skills for some reason.
I was glad to see him in ST with the Rays. He looked good, and if he hits the way he was supposed to with the A's, he is a solid 1b.

Didn't he have a similar numbers a few years ago with the Tigers.... only to end up back in the minors and then cut? He's been around for a while and I really wouldn't hold my breath on him figuring it out. I wouldn't put too much stock in the where he was drafted. A lot of top picks don't even make it to the big leagues.
Absolute best case, he's a really, really cheap source of HR while killing your average. Basically his 2004 season. I think that's his upside.

Absolutely. It's hard to even call him streaky. He's just OFF or ON.
