Glaus, R Johnson, G Zaun, J Thomson, J Towers, Ohka, and deffenitely Clayton. Clayton was signed to a one year deal, so theres no reason to keep him around.. thats if anyone else wants him.
what the heck can they get for those guys??? if they're trying to shake it up, that certainly wont do it...
i agree rowand is playing better than his norm, but thats not the point. the phillies have no major league ready OF to man CF...sure linebrink would help in the pen, but the lineup would take a huge hit, and rowand is SUPERB in the field. it would definitely be a downgrade for the team as a whole...
as for the angels deal....i really dont see why ervin santana is as highly touted as he's been, and no im not just looking at this season.. shields would be a big help but hes not a long-term fix for the pen. wood would be great at 3b, but it would still leave a big hole at 1b, so the deal wouldnt be that great for the phils i dont think.
Did you play ball at Virginia Tech? Or did you play with him at high school? Either way, that's pretty sweet.
I played against him in highschool
He played for West Springfield HS and I played for O'Connell we were both state champs. My school private and his public in VA... I think the same year.
I also faced him in american legion ball. he 2 hit us I remember. I got one of the hits up the middle. He played for Springfield American Legion and I played for Arlington.
He was throwing 90-92 and his fastball moved a ton!
I also, Played with him on the American Legion All Star team one summer.
Our baseball team was pretty solid and so was the team he was on. I don't remember too many other names from his teams but I think a good portion of them probably went on to play minor league ball.

How about Saltalamacchia for Lastings Milledge??? Makes perfect sense for both teams?
Is pushing for President Obama to pass a law requiring all citizens to be Chicago White Sox fans and make October 1st "White Sox Day" where we all dress as our favorite player. It maybe socialist, but I don't care.

Also, how about Joe Crede, Mike Macdougall and Tadhito Iguchi to the Phillies for Chase Utley and a prospect. This is just kind of a random one, what do you think?? The Phils are in desperate need of RP and can move Myers back to the rotation if they so please. Also, they are weak at 3B. The Sox, however, need a jumpstart to the offense, like Utley and have Josh Fields in AAA to bring up and put at 3rd. What do you think?

The Rangers and the Dodgers are a marriage made in heaven right now. The Rangers need an infusion of young talent, and they know they can't re-sign Tex. The Dodgers are ready to win now, have a loaded AAA team that is blocked, and need a big middle-of-the-order bat.
LAD gets Tex for almost two full seasons at a very reasonable price, and LA is the type of market that Boras would like for Tex to be in. Very possible they could re-sign him.
Rangers get some very nice pieces to build around.
If the trade works out, the Dodgers are WS contenders right now, and the Rangers are in 3 or 4 years.

That is an interesting idea. Weren't the Rangers and Teix really close to a long-term deal this offseason though? Who knows, maybe they can sign him.

No. Usually you don't see a prospect traded for another prospect straight up. That and teams usually don't like trading within their own division.

Only if the Phillies throw in Hamels.
Seriously, why would the Phillies trade the best hitting 2B in the league for three mediocre players? I know the White Sox got away like bandits in the Thome trade but come on.... Thome atleast had injury concerns and he was blocking Ryan Howard.

yeah the phillies would never even consider this trade. crede's value is very low, iguchi is nothing special and macdougal surely would help our pen, but still wouldnt be enough.
the Jays dont need to shake things up. the biggest reason they are where they are is because of injuries. with a couple moves the Jays could be right in contention next season. IMO they need a number 3 type SP, starting C, and a starting SS, and maybe some bullpen help.. and they have the ability to spend money so they could bring in key players during the offseason.
those players could be moved for marginal prospects if thats all they can get, but theres no need to keep them around as they wont contribute for the future.
i include Glaus name because he was someone i thought should have been moved during this past offseason.
i was thinking maybe something like Glaus, and someone else to LA Dodgers for Penny and Betemit. or maybe Glaus to LA Angels for Wood and one of the top pitching prospects, maybe Saunders?
if Glaus goes during the season the Jays will need to get a 3B in return as they have noone else to take over 3B. it would also take Glaus to waive his no trade clause
