When he comes off the DL? The question should be IF. I don't see Myers losing his job to Gordon, even if healthy this season.

first off, i don't think he's going to start even throwing anytime soon. he was just released from the hospital for an upper respiratory infection. so if you have gordon, i wouldn't start clearning a spot for him just yet.

second, the talk among phils fans and the local media is that no one's even sure if he'll be able to pitch again this year, let alone soon. honestly, if i have tom gordon, i wouldve dropped him a while ago.

From Philly here.... IF Gordon comes back, at BEST he will be set up man, and that is AT BEST... Myers is dominating and will NOT lose his job at closer... Drop him or try to salvage and trade him to someone who doesnt know this.

I agree. Gordon is old, and Myers is dominating. I don't see Myers losing the gig to Gordon. I'm about to drop Mr. Gordon myself.

yeah, gordon is a safe drop at this point. no need to use up a roster spot with him.

the closer spot is brett myers' for this season at least.

But in that case you could just pick Gorgon up off FA and be fine.

I still think Gordon will be back soon and then it's a toss-up whether he closes or not, Philly may see Myers more valueable as a 7th & 8th inning guy instead of just 9th. Their bullpen needs Myers to eat as many innings as possible if he ain't starting, they stink. (IMO) !+)

i would think that gordon goes back into setup and myers stays closing in the ninth. it just seems to make the most sense. then again, this is chollie manuel we're talking about.
