Crashing and burning or just a big slump?

Util- T. Hafner

Bench- B. Hall (3B, SS, OF)
DL- H. Kendrick (1B, 2B)

SP- J. Peavy
SP- C. Capuano
RP- B. Wagner
RP- R. Dempster
P- J. Borowski
P- A. Otsuka
P- A. Harang
Bench- Randy Johnson
Bench- E. Bedard
Bench- S. Kazmir


I've lost bad the last three weeks, and am in dead last place. My pitching is holding its own, but my offense has sucked. The league is shallow, so there is talent amongst the free agents, but with the move limit, I can't go too crazy. Do I look for a big trade, pick up a minor piece or stay put?

I would stay put for the time being; at least until the All Star Break.

Your team looks to be slumping more than crashing and burning with Figgins, Atkins, Matsui, and Soriano peppered in there. They should hopefully pick it up sooner or later.

I would also say your team is slumping though personally I don't expect last years numbers from Atkins. Just wait it out as I don't think you'll get any value for them anyways. Kendrick should provide a very nice boost at the 2B for you once he comes back. So just sit tight for a few more weeks.

snell is a good option for sure. I think you're okay. Maybe Dan Johnson at 1B, I think Giambi is kind of washed up. Your team is definently better than last place though.

Your pitching is strong so I wouldn't look to make any drastic moves there, although if you so desire, I think Accardo will be an excellent pick-up at the reliever spot.

As for the offense, wait it out. You have a lot of potential there but through injuries and slumps I can see why your team has been struggling. Giambi is a bit up in the air at this point but if he can bounce back from this foot injury I think he'll start putting up solid numbers again in a stacked Yankees lineup.

Nothing drastic yet but keep an eye on your team over the next few weeks.

I agree with the above posters. You are just slumping not crashing and burning. I am in a similar position. I need a few of my guys to produce like they are capable of doing. Be patient things will come around.

I agree with what everyone is stating. Matsui has me concerned, after returning back from that hammy injury of his, he is not hitting to my expectation level and is riding my bench. I would definitely play Hall over Matsui at this juncture until I see Matsui hitting steadily.

Chone Figgins is also not going to produce like he did last year, I think he'll be decent but not at last year's levels.
