I have this in Baseball Leftovers because it's not an individual question, but an overall discussion really.
Is it time to cut ties with Ervin Santana? Can we rely on him as a solid pitcher anymore? Honestly, in 8-10 team leagues, I wouldn't see it as a reach. He's only good at home, and he just kills you on the road... is this guy worth the trouble?

"Oh, that Lankford and McGee, the trio of 'em. They're a one-man wrecking crew."
By now, its painfully obvious he's good at home and bad on the road.
Use him at home. Spot start him if you must. Just don't pitch him on the road.
In 8-10 teamers, I don't see much use to hold him. You'd probably find better options on FA. If you can spot start him when he's at home though, he's $$.
Yeah OK so supposedly he's only good at home but ... why? What is it about 'home' that makes him so good? Or is that just a statistical glitch? So far, he looks bad. I have him in several leagues and am seriously considering dropping him. He hasn't been particularly good at home, and he simply doesn't look like he's pitching well. Rather have J. Weaver, Colon, ... any other Angel starter.
Yeah, I'd hold onto him a bit longer if you could bare it. If he's anything like last year, he'll swing around and start pitching like the real Ervin Santana.
he's just not worth the permanent roster spot. let someone else carry them if they must. if he's available when he's scheduled to pitch at home then spot start him.
I probably won't drop him b/c that's a 'feel' issue that could come back at any time. His stuff is still there, he just doesn't seem to know where its going.
I'm not gonna start him for a loooong time, he's gonna get the Ollie Perez treatment from me until he can string together 2 or 3 good outings.
I don't know. I keep holding on to him just because of 'potential' I guess, but I really don't know why I do. So you can't start him at away games. OK, I think that away thing is simply a statistical anomoly. As for the way he pitches, I' SoCal so I catch a lot of Angels and Dodgers games. Right now I'd rate his pitching ability somewhere above Tomko but way below Hendrickson and Wolf. Those guys are sitting out there in FA. Why don't I just pull the trigger and pick them up? I think I need EA (Ervin Annonymous).
