1) He is in the NL

2) He is in the NL West

3) He is in Petco

I'll add

4) He is on a good team

5) He has a great pen behind him

Peavy could be the best pitcher but he is white hot right now and Santana tends to heat up in the second half.

IMO top 3 will be
1.)Johan
2.)Peavy
3.) Smoltz

Others in the top 10 will be, Webb, Kazmir, Hudson, Halladay, Hamels, just to name a few

You'll have to save a spot for Penny in the top ten. Oh yeah.

Check Penny's second half 06 before you make a statement like that.

You'll have to save a spot for Brad Penny in the top 10. Oh Yeah!!!

But top 10 of what? Of course his new weakness this year is a low K ratio, so that would take him out of contention in fantasy terms probably. But in terms of ERA, wins, WHIP, I think he's a real contender. Let's see a trip to the all-star game AND a nice second half. That would be nice in the real world. I passed on him this year though in fantasy.

His ERA is a full run higher post ASB for 05, 06.

Well, I knew that, but thanks for telling me. I actually had that stat in mind but it's just a prediction. I'm hoping that this new Penny is for real. Last couple years I think he really tired himself out pitching fast balls, and by the second half he really couldn't get above like 80 pitches if I remember correctly.

Also he got a in shape over the off-season to a degree much greater than in previous years it seems.

Also how can he lose with Broxton / Saito at the back end?

o yeah.

Another win from Penny with 1 ER in 6 and negligible strikeouts. What say you now? I say: Oh yeah!!

id still rather have johan personally...the only other guys who could comtend would be peavy and oswalt at this point. oswalt just because hes the most consistent pitcher in baseball, peavy because of his high k rate. but johan has both of that, and his 2nd half numbers are simply untouchable.
