Ok, this was actually a joke to myself I had durring the Cards game today...
But...
what If I just traded all my great starters for Offensive help, then spot started every pitcher who goes up against like the Cardinals and the Nationals?
now this is a joke...but wouldnt it be interesting to see.

If you have a high minimum inning limit, it may not work as those starters may already be owned.
But if not, and if they keep hitting the way they have been, i see no reason why it shouldn't work.

This depends on your waiver wire. If it's full of turds, then this strategy probably isn't the best way to go. However, if there's some legit #3-#4 starters on the waiver wire, it could work. I wouldn't recommend it, though.

It seems like any scrub can keep the Cards under 3 runs right now.

My pitching has been awful due to Olson, Wang, and Dontrelle, so I've been spot starting already since it could hardly hurt my ERA and WHIP.
The results?
Matt Belisle 6IP, 0ER, 7K
Paul Byrd 6 1/3IP, 1ER, 3K
Sergio Mitre 8IP, 0ER, 4K
Shawn Hill 6IP, 2ER, 3K
Jon Garland 8 1/3 IP, 1ER, 3K
But, No wins yet!
I've done spot starting before, and I know I've been very lucky so far.

If you have pickup limitations - ours is 60 - it will only work if you have a core of starters and spot start maybe two a week.

seriously, the Cards havent hit a homerun since Duncan did it on May 1st. They also have no speed.
Its a station to station singles hitting team

Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!
