J.Upton or C.Maybin?

Postby rickyjay73 » Thu May 10, 2007 8:36 pm

Am in a keeper league and have been keeping watch on these two guys over the year. Who are they comparable to? Who has more potential/upside? What are their MLB numbers projected to be? What is their timetable? Don't know alot about them other than they are high draft pick, minor league superstars.

These two are so, so close. I still like Maybin, but just slightly. Upton really looks like a Griffey Jr. in his prime. Great tools, all 5, much like Maybin. Maybin still K's quite a bit. I think Maybin still just edges out Upton.

its like apples and orangesd with both.

good comps like said before are Upton to Griffey and Maybin to Vlad, you cant go wrong with either as both are looking like the next 2 elite 5 tool stars of the game.

i do have a slight edge to Upton as of now but its hair thin, and could go either way.

50/50. If I were a fan of one of those teams, I would lean towards that player, but other then that, I think they are pretty much a wash.

Justin Upton probably has a slightly higher cieling, but that is no against Maybin. They are very similar players with very bright futures.

They both could be up late next summer imo. Neither team is going to rush these future stars, but both could come into play next August or September.

I think Maybin will be there Summer 2008. Upton, Im not so sure. The DBacks are filled with OF prospects: Young, Quientin, Gonzalez and Upton. So I think Upton will come up in Sept. next year, then the DBacks trade Quientin away in the offseason. So I think Maybin will beat him there.
