When Dotel comes back....

Will he still be the closer? I picked him off of the FA pool and stashed him on the DL and am hoping he does.

Everything I've read says Dotel is immed put into the closer role once coming off the DL.

Of course. They spent the money so he would be the closer so of course he will be.

KC will trade him though if he looks good

1 year deal and all could get a prospect back or 2 for a contender if he looks strong then let Soria close again

I think this is what's most likely to happen. ;-D

As a Dotel owner I sure hope he gets traded. Any team other than the nationals should yield more save ops for him.

Don't you think that he'll get traded to a team looking for a solid set-up man? I imagine it would be some team with a weak pen, but a decent closer. I could see St. Louis, or someone like them acquiring Dotel. I'm gonna try to sell high on him once he looks good.

The Royals were 8th in the majors in save opportunities last year, and they'll be up there this year. They don't win much, but when they do, it's a close game.

I just traded Soria because I had to make room for Gagne, but I've actually been quite impressed with him. I've been watching him on MLB.tv. Good stuff. KC should trade Dotel.

Before he's dealt, Dotel's gonna have to
a) stay healthy; and
b) close effectively.

If I'm a Soria owner, I try to figure out a way to keep the guy rostered. His K numbers have been solid and his ratios not bad at all. And he carries the right price tag for a "budget conscious" franchise. I think he's back in the job one way or another before it's over.

From rotowolrd (May15th)

Octavio Dotel (oblique) reported to Double-A Wichita Monday and is expected to make his first minor league rehab appearance later this week.
Barring a setback, Dotel could come off the disabled list early next week. However, manager Buddy Bell said Monday that Dotel may not be handed the closer job immediately. "I don’t know if we’ll put Dotel in the closer’s role right away," Bell said. "There’s a better chance that he’ll come back as the closer than in another spot. We just want to make sure there are no setbacks."
