well, since he didn't suck last year as a fantasy player, this is obviously rubish.
not to say that he's some kind of fantasy god...obviously not, and since 3B is pretty deep, unless you are an AL only, or a deep league, he probably doesn't need to be on a roster. but i do expect him to heat up a bit...the sox as a team really aren't hitting, and having thome out of the lineup doesn't help anyone. if i had to guess, i'd say he'll warm up and be rosterable for at least a portion of the season...maybe that's optimistic and coming from a guy with Crede in his sig., but there it is, nonetheless.
Yeah right, skippy. Considering his career year put him at barely-worth-a-roster-spot, you might be on to something here.
You Crede defenders are a pretty funny bunch. If you guys think keeping a 3b on your roster despite the fact that there are 20 better options, go for it. .260 and 25-30 HR, which is about his peak, just doesn't do it for me at 3B.
If you're good with that, I'd love to be in a league with you. He just isn't a great major league hitter, period.

There's always somebody out there trying to pick fights....

There are deeper leagues out there and some of them use more than the typical 5x5.

Sorry but not everyone plays in 8 team leagues.

13th rated player at 3B last year according to Yahoo's rankings last year, 11th rated 3B player at Baseball Monster last year. Yahoo's rankings include guys that probably were rostered for other positions (Figgins, Sanchez, Bill Hall, Glaus).
Last time i checked, 13th isn't 21st, but hey, whatever works for you. I haven't seen anyone in this thread going to bat for Crede, saying that he's a, "great major league hitter." I certainly haven't, and i'm pretty sure that many here would agree that he's not hitting very well right now. The concerns about his balky back, as well as his lack of Walks have also been discussed, so he obviously has a down side. However, he is not without an upside, and i'm pretty sure that the upside is all that's being pointed out here. Sure, he shouldn't be a starting 3B in a 10 team league...but most of those 10 team leagues also have UTIL spots, as well as bench spots, and because he's only 28, and he has pretty decent upside based on last year's #s, as well the fact that his #s have been at least modestly trending upward over his career. I've never played in a league with big hort, or with yoda, but i'd guess that they are pretty savvy players, and i think it's patently stupid to assume that because someone thinks Joe Crede has a decent chance to put up rosterable #s this year, that you'd somehow have a leg up on such a guy. But hey, keep up the good work.

If you're playing 8 team leagues then you are even more out of your mind that at first glance to be touting Crede. Who's your starting 1B? Shea Hillenbrand???

I guess my post completely flew over your head. Sorry.

I forgot that Yahoo's rankings are considered the standard by which to rate players.
I love how you guys pile up on a guy who has a different opinion than the "regulars" here. I don't care. I've been watching Crede his whole career and he's not a great major league hitter and he's not even a good fantasy player.
You go ahead and draft him assuming that the first 4 years of his major league career where him just getting warmed up and his breakout last year is the real Crede. I'm sure a lot of people still have Beltre on their rosters too because he hit a bunch of homeruns one year.
