Well, my league's trading deadline is on 7/12, so I should know by then...I just hope I don't sustain more injuries and keeping them turns into a real dilemna.
Maybe if things turn out the way I hope, I'll have to choose 2 between Pujols, Papi, and Hafner on a weekly basis. Of course, I'll try to make a trade before that happens.
Will always help in return (leave a link to your question in response)
I'm in a similar league (no util.), except we need 5 games. Ortiz already had 1B from last year, Hafner doesn't. I own him and need him to get to 5 games before I can use him.
By my count, the indians play 9 games in a national league stadium this year. I'm thinking by Mid/late June Hafner gets 1B eligibility. I can see him playing maybe 2 more games as a warmup at 1st before IL play. I do own him though (and can't use him) so I'm bias.
If I were you, I wouldn't drop either. These guys are monsters esp. in a 16 team league. Hold on and wait. If they don't have 1B after IL play, then you can drop them.
I don't see Ortiz getting 7 starts all year or at least I don't see him getting them early enough to be worth stashing on your bench.
These guys are pretty close to being equal in value, so there's no sense using two spots and hurting your team waiting to use them both. You already have Pujols, so you only would be able to use one of them anyway.
There's a good change neither of them gets 7 starts all year at 1B. I'd drop at least one right away.

I'd seriously disagree with that. Hafner now has 2 starts at 1B before their first InterLeague game. By 6/24, each team will have played 9 away games in interleague. At this pace, Hafner will have 11 or more starts, and Ortiz 9, by then.
If you hold on to both, you'll get a sick new 1B AND be able to trade for a top SP, with a week still to go in June.
