Even after homering Wednesday, Dave Roberts said he expects to have surgery in the coming days to remove bone chips from his left elbow.
Roberts is scheduled to be examined Thursday by Angels team orthopedist Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles. Surgery would likely cost him 3-5 weeks, so if it's really giving him problems, he might as well get it taken care of now. The slumping Todd Linden would get at-bats in his place, but the Giants might call up Nate Schierholtz to try in right field, with Randy Winn seeing time in center. A trade for outfield help is also a possibility. May. 9 - 8:01 p.m. ET
