He's not playing today and lately it seems to me has missed alot of games. Is his thumb still injured, is this a new injury or he just being rested?

I'm pretty sure he's just getting some rest so he can play in the afternoon game tomorrow.

Tomorrow is an afternoon game, so Torre probably rested Posada tonight to catch for tomorrow before the road trip out.
