If he can still run... why not? Lofton and Franco are still doing it.

Can he hit or would he be a pinch runner. Heck even pinch runners are needed. Dave Roberts won the series for the Sox

hes been out of the league for 6 years, and with Hendersons Massive Ego, he would expect to come back and hit lead off for his team.

He was content to be a bench player on the Padres 5 years ago.
I don't see a team taking a chance on him, but far stranger things have happened.

I would rather have Ricky than Steve Finley.
I would rather have Ricky than somebody like, Kevin Frandsen in SF.

I'd rather have him stay in NY and live vicariously through his relationship with Reyes.

Did he ever officially retire? Somebody needs to tell him that he has to be out of the leauge before they can elect him to the Hall of Fame. Or maybe they just need to tell him that his numbers are already good enough for induction. ;-)

just wikied him. Couple notes

"On May 9, 2005, Rickey signed with the San Diego Surf Dawgs of the Golden Baseball League, a Class-A independent league. This was the SurfDawgs' and the Golden Baseball League's inaugural season and Henderson helped the SurfDawgs to the league championship. In 73 games he had a .456 obp, 73 walks while striking out 43 times, and 16 steals while being caught only twice."

"Contrary to common belief, Henderson's refusal to officially retire is not delaying his eligibility for Hall of Fame induction. The five-year waiting period is based on major league service only. Henderson will become eligible for the 2009 induction vote, provided he does not return to major league play."

I'm not saying he can still play, just throwing this out there.

Yeah now we have to wait another 5 years for him to be elected to the hall.
