Carl Crawford said Sunday that the new turf at Tropicana Field has made his legs sore.
Crawford asked to play designated hitter Sunday because of the soreness. "My legs have been bothering me a lot because of the turf, " Crawford said. "We've been on it a lot, here and in Minnesota for four days. It's too thick. We need to get a boat show or something in here to flatten it down. This turf hurts real bad. The old turf felt better. I'm just sore."
Considering his legs are what make him so valuable, how much of an issue is this going to be?
As a first-time Crawford owner, I'm a little disappointed in the season he's having so far. He's doing ok but just not what I expected. The steals seem to have dropped off quite a bit, too. Maybe he heats up, stops feeling sore, or whatever... I'm just wondering if I should deal him.

He will be fine. CC also normally gets the day off before the Rays have a day off so that was actually a scheduled day off. His legs are more sore b/c of his diving than running on, he makes spectatular grabs by diving. CC will adjust and be fine.
I'm not going into panic mode or anything, just bringing it to attention that he says the new turf is hurting his legs, and it may be something to keep an eye on for the future. As a keeper owner, I'm debating selling if his production slows any, but for nothing less than another top 10 player.

meeeeeeh.
and the runs and SB being down is most likely b/c he has hit 3 more HR and has hit 3rd from the start and i believe he was leading off or hitting 2nd from the start last year
