With only ONE huge year under his belt and having outproduced the likes of M-Cab last year, is this guy for real or was last year a fluke? The guy looks terrible so far after putting up huge numbers last year.
Can I get an opinion from somone who is watching the games or knows a thing or two about the Rockies?
I'm not hanging around to find out. I think their are guys performing similarly right now, with similar upside, with a lot less trade value than Atkins, so I shipped him off for Sheets at the end of last week.

i remember loving hima few years ago & he was mediocre, then last year he broke out but still The Rockies plans were always for Ian Stewart to be the man at 3rd, so im definitley weary on Atkins production, i think he got a tad bit overated in drafts this year
He's going to come around and have a decent year. The guy has skills and 2006 was not a fluke. He may not produce at 2006 levels this year, but it's not time to cut bait on him.
I'm guessing he'll finish in the top ten at 3B, maybe as high as 5-7. He is not one of the elite 3B, IMHO.
I think you are panicking. First of all for those of you saying hes had only one year. This is his third full year in the league. His first he put up ROY numbers. And last year he was a monster.
Hes a second half player. Last year he hit .356 with an OPS of 1.062 after the break with 18 HRs. Maybe he wont put up the same numbers HR wise as he did last year. He still has power.
I read it somewhere here, but last year he hit more balls 380 feet or further than any one in the majors. Ortiz, Pujols, Howard, etc.
Just relax. I can, I got him as a keeper in the 23rd round.
I think Scrappy Doo just about covered all of my bases with that last post, but you are definitely overreacting with Atkins. He's shown that he can play and he will come around, you just need to be patient. The splits also show that he typically hits better towards the end of the season, so there is no reason to make a bad trade. His trade value is too low at the moment and there's no way you are going to be able to get what he's worth if you dangle him. I'd hold on to him and wait for him to turn it around.
