Is this kid expected to be something big or is he simply spot starting for the Braves right now?

His statline doesn't look so bad tonight, especially the 7 Ks. Anybody watching or have any insight on him?

Lerew has talent. He was like a top 100 prospect a couple years ago. The Braves have slowed his development moving from BP to starter and back. He was supposed to be their future closer.

Anyways, I think he could be a good #3 on a real MLB team in the future but not sure about this year.

He's just spot starting, but he could possibly earn himself a spot in the rotation if he keeps pitching like this. He's not really that highly touted. He was up last year for a bit and got knocked around, but I think he was hurt.

I heard much the same...injured last year, but has some potential. Statline looked good(6I 98PC 2H 2BB 2ER 7K), but curious as to how he looked. I didn't see the game...did anyone else?

looked great. his 2ER were 2 solo shots. I hope the braves keep him around as the #5.

Well, he dubed much better than I thought he would. Yahoo! (correctly) points out that his K/BB in AAA this year was 15/8 in over 26IP, which, needless to say isn't very good.

Oh well. As long as he continues to have even moderate success he'll be given opportunities. But I wouldn't go overboard adding him unless you've got plenty of roster space to play around with. If he can keep his walks under control (he had 2 in 6 IP tonight, but they were a major problem last year) he could turn in a fair few league-average innings.

He's always had good stuff, his Ks have been underwhelming for the stuff he has. I was hoping his future would be in the bullpen so he could throw some gas. He's better than Mark Redman, though.
