Is there a stat as to what each fantasy position should produce? Ryman made a great topic about what each team should produce (hrs, rbi, era, etc..) Does anyone know what each position should be producing?

I don't know if you can say a position "should" produce something, can you? For instance, you typically have a speed guy up the middle, and power at the corners. However, if you had Upton at 3B and Utley at 2B, then you have similar production. I guess the best you could do would be gather some descriptive statistics by position (mean, median, STD, ranges etc) and set some sort of replacement from which to gauge value.

This is an interesting question but I think the reason no one has answered it is this - you need to get around this average in all these categories to win, right? Compiling that average suggests that there is going to be a lot of variation underneath, and you know you're output by position is giong to be radically varied as a result. No?

It's from Sporting News Magazine. It addresses the average production of players at chach position.
The numbers were extracted from 2006's Sporting News Commissioner Games for 5x5 mixed leagues with 23-man active rosters.
