Cordero will miss three to seven games. If the Nats create a save opportunity within the next few days, expect it to go to Jon Rauch.

Go grab Rauch for a few days! Yahoo's player news also stated that Rauch is expected to close games in Cordero's absence.

Nats are playing the Brewers the next 2 days, and then off Thursday. Unless Cordero's going to be out into the weekend, I don't see much point in picking up his replacment.

That's a pretty specific statement given you have no idea who has who on their roster. It depends on your roster and if you have a free spot, or a spot dedicated to someone who's not really contributing. I had Aardsma for lack of anyone better to pick up in one league, so I might as well add Rauch and see if I can get a save or two while Cordero is out.

but a bereavement "leave" is basically an excused leave for a certain amount of time

Bereavement is both a physical and psychological trauma you feel when you are mouring a loved ones death. Serious illness can also be cause to send someone on the Bereavement list. Depending on how close that person was to you will depend typically on how lon or the length of time you are absent from your other worldy responsibilities.

Chad Cordero's Grandmother is ill and may have already passed... It is never a happy moment and I hope he takes this time, as long as it takes to support his family and take care of his needs.

This break from baseball, though early in the season... Might just be good for him to back on track later on...
