Tier 1: Santana (stands alone)

Tier 2: Webb, Peavy, Oswalt

Tier 3: Zambrano, Smoltz, Sheets, Hill

Tier 4: Kazmir, Maine, Sabathia

Tier 5: Cain, Capuano (there is pretty big tier between Main and Bush)

Tier 6: Bush, Snell

Tier 7: Meche, Lilly

These are all in my opinion, but I wanted to group them with other similar pitchers. This should give you a rough guide.

yeah to me, hill is surely not 2 tiers above matt cain. neither is john maine. everyone's tiers are definitely different but i was basically just ranking the guys for him.

Almost makes me want to make this same thread about every position just to see all the craziness that will follow!!!

Ok, I'm done....carry on! !+)

I think it's a worthwhile exercise to re-evaluate players on a monthly basis, especially for those in H2H leagues.

Buy low on Bush, the guy has been very good this year but extremely unlucky. These tiers just show that now is the right time to be buying him.

Webb > Kazmir > Zambrano > Bush > Maine > Meche > Wakefield

Thats how I'd rate those guys for fantasy.

Looking at some more important stats than ERA/WHIP here is what we have so far this year.

Webb - 7.31 K/9, 3.75 BB/9, .309 BABIP, 3.70 FIP, 71.7% LOB, 62.2% GB
Kazmir - 7.83 K/9, 3.5 BB/9, .279 BABIP, 4.85 FIP, 79.3% LOB, 44.7% GB
Zambrano - 6.47 K/9, 4.91 BB/9, .286 BABIP, 6.52 FIP, 75.8% LOB, 35.2% GB
Bush - 7.47 K/9, 1.45 BB/9, .356 BABIP, 3.58 FIP, 57% LOB, 47% GB
Maine - 8.47 K/9, 4.12 BB/9, .229 BABIP, 3.35 FIP, 91.8% LOB, 37.1% GB
Meche - 6.52 K/9, 1.86 BB/9, .293 BABIP, 3.78 FIP, 78.4% LOB, 57.1% GB

Looking at those numbers Zambrano has just been terrible this year, Maine has been one of the luckiest pitchers in baseball and Bush has been one of the unluckiest in baseball. Meche interestingly enough deserves the stats he's earned and his GB% is way way up compared to the years he stunk, if he can keep that up he's going to actually be much better than expected this year. Bush has arguably pitched the best out of this bunch and has a 6 ERA to show for it which is why i'd be buying low on him if at all possible.

If he comes back strong (in 3 months :~( ) I think he'll still be a top tier guy next year.

Can someone explain to me why I convinced myself that Penny was going to suck this year and left him sitting there on the waiver after the draft? I don't really understand why nobody here talked me out of that.

Post- all-star break-down or Cy Young? :~(
