No, but my sores went away with penicillin.
as to the original poster - i am assuming you have tried a lot of other therapies or have severe nodular acne in which case this will probably be the best thing to get rid of the acne. if you keep up with the blood work, don't get anyone pregnant or if you are a woman don't get pregnant shouldn't have any problem, if there are side effects, the medication can be stopped. If anyone prescribes you anything else including antibiotics, make sure to tell them you take accutane as many things interact with this.

I had never gone to a Determatologist in my life untill 2 months ago. I had always taken Doxycycline for my face which worked great untill I decided I didn't need it anymore....not the best idea. I broke out like crazy. Thats when my determologist reccomended accutane. She said I would have to be on the antibiotic for another 3 years which wasn't too safe. If nothing helps and your determologist wont give it to you I would go elsewhere. It has done wonders in the first 2 weeks.
TBG wrote:How did you guys get it prescribed to you? Did you ask for it, or did the doctor/dermatologist recommend it?
The reason I ask is I've visited a family doctor and two different dermatologists and every time I've asked about it, they don't want to prescribe it to me. I've tried Retin-A, and it didn't help. They keep giving me antibiotics, but they don't help either.

I proclaim that this will be the cafe's longest acne-related thread ever.
