The Rays said that Aki will move to second, but it will happen in the offseason and not this year. That leads me to believe that Evan will not be up

It sure looks that way. That means I kept him on my season all year for nothing. Well hopefully it pays off next year and years to come.

According to Evan's newest Yahoo player note he will not be up this year:

Aug 27 Roger Mooney, of the Bradenton Herald, reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays 3B Evan Longoria will play in the Arizona Fall League, meaning the prospect will not get a chance to play for the Devil Rays this season.

I'm hoping Longoria starts the 2008 season in the minors. Two weeks would be ok with me. I have him on my minor league reserve. I would have to count him as one of my keepers if he is up when we draft. Thats usually the Sunday after the season starts.

Just read this on Rotoworld so I figured I would pass it along:

Rays executive VP Andrew Friedman said he'd like to make a decision before spring training on whether Evan Longoria will be the team's third baseman or open the season in Triple-A.
Friedman is smart enough to realize that what Longoria has done up to this point as a pro says a lot more about him than anything that's going to happen in March. Still, there's something to be said for making him fight for the job. Manager Joe Maddon reportedly would prefer to see it play out that way. However, with the Rays already committed to Akinori Iwamura at second base, the Rays really don't have anyone to throw up against him. Perhaps they'll bring in Morgan Ensberg or Dallas McPherson.
