Mike Myers - R - Seattle Mariners Jan 16

Mariners signed LHP Mike Myers to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Myers is coming off a rough season, but he still should have found some team willing to give him a major league contract. At least he'll probably have a job on the Mariners. Although prospects Travis Blackley and Bobby Madritsch could get a chance to compete with him, Myers figures to be the No. 2 lefty in Seattle's pen.

I can't think of a better person to replace Rhodes.

Jose Nuñez - R - Seattle Mariners Jan 16

Mariners signed LHP Jose Nunez to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Nunez, who pitched for the Dodgers and Padres in 2001, has missed much of the last two seasons with shoulder troubles. He'll try to put his career back together while pitching for Triple-A Tacoma.

Hiram Bocachica - OF - Seattle Mariners Jan 16

Mariners signed outfielder Hiram Bocachica to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Bocachica, who spent last season with Detroit's Triple-A club, will replace Chad Meyers as Triple-A Tacoma's second baseman/outfielder.

Pat Borders - C - Seattle Mariners Jan 16

Mariners re-signed catcher Pat Borders to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

The 40-year-old Borders will play for Triple-A Tacoma until the Mariners need a third catcher. Also invited to spring training by the Mariners today were: pitchers Craig Anderson, Travis Blackley, George Sherrill and Randy ; catchers Luis Oliveros and Rene Rivera; infielders Bucky Jacobsen, Adam Jones, Jose Lopez, Mickey Lopez and A.J. Zapp and outfielder Shin-Soo Choo.
