News: The Dodgers called up third baseman Andy LaRoche from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday and placed Marlon Anderson on the 15-day DL. LaRoche was listed in the Dodgers' starting lineup Sunday for the game against the Braves. The move came one day after manager Grady Little announced he was benching third baseman Wilson Betemit.
Analysis: LaRoche was hitting .235 with three homers and 11 RBI for Las Vegas. Despite the so-so numbers, Andy is one of the best slugging prospects in baseball. Consider him a must-add immediately in all deeper leagues, especially long-term keeper formats.

There was one in the Player forum, but the Cafe was surprisingly quite on this one.

I think everyone is just losing track with all of these super prospects getting called up earlier than expected.

Younger brothers always get the raw deal I guess. He's one to keep an eye on though, too bad I'm not in a keeper.

Third base is too deep to worry about picking up some hack hitting .235 in the minors.

This "hack" is one of the top-rated prospects in the Dodgers organization. Given the struggles of Betemit (TOTALLY called that, FWIW), it looks like he's going to be up long-term. He projects to hit for a strong average, draw a fair number of walks with 20-30 HR power. A line like .300/.370/.500 at the ML level is probably about right.

Don't sell the farm for him in a re-draft league (he's not on the caliber of Butler), but he's definitely grabbing in the Yahoo! standard format if you've got some bench room.

Clearly a must-add for Keeper formats.

Betimit with back to back games with a HR. Hope that doesn't make Little start penciling him in at 3rd :-o

Its hard for me to get excited about the Butlers of the world (who I passed on), I'm not going to get too excited about the next tier prospects. I would have expected someone to post about him from a keeper league angle by now though.

He's actually pretty good. Last year he had 6 RBIs (or around there) in a game for the Dodgers. Lots of power, but true 3rd is too deep.

dont think so. his major league debut was this weekend.
