His chances of closing aren't impacted at all by his last 2 outings in my opinion. The only chance he had/has is if Torres continues to pitch poorly.

If Torres pitches ok, then Capps has zero chance to close, no matter how well he pitches this year.

If Torres struggles, Capps is the #1 option.

The following from Rotoworld:

MLB suspended RHP Matt Capps four games for throwing at and hitting Prince Fielder in Saturday's game.

Fielder was hit immediately after J.J. Hardy homered. Capps will likely appeal.

This will hurt his chances for at least 4 games... It will also be a positive thing for him to hopefully get a little rest and get his head together... Those last two outings were shaky.

haha fool's shady dawg.

I like Capps as the Pirates set-up guy. Capps has closer potential but I think leaving the job to Torres for now wouldn't be too bad of a thing for the team overall. It would give time for other relievers in their bullpen to get better.

Just to let everyone know that Matt Capps pitched the Bottom of the Ninth inning tonight versus the cubbies.

Clean Inning (no strikeouts though)

I am left to wondering when he is going to serve his suspension time?

In the interest of full disclosure, it was NOT a save situation (tie game).

He has appealed his suspension...won't serve any time until his appeal has been heard or dropped.

Dude.... calm down!

mak1277 already disclosed that this was not a save situation for the pure sake of misunderstandings. I thought it was quite obvious but people could obviously take it the wrong way... Thanks for clarifying that mak1277 :-D

He also pitched the 10'th inning as well and got out of a nice jam. The fact that he pitched was my point... Nothing more than that so don't get all excited.

I have both Torres and Capps handcuffed anyway in three leagues so the closer status of Pittsburgh does not worry me that much to begin with. Not too mention, two of those leagues are count Holds, not too shabby if you ask me.

So once again... chill yourself with your brilliance!
