The Dodgers called up third baseman Andy LaRoche from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday and placed Marlon Anderson on the 15-day DL. LaRoche was listed in the Dodgers' starting lineup Sunday for the game against the Braves. The move came one day after manager Grady Little announced he was benching third baseman Wilson Betemit, who then hit a pinch-hit homer, his first of the season, in Saturday night's 6-3 win over the Braves. Despite the homer, Betemit is hitting only .140.
Analysis: LaRoche was hitting .235 with three homers and 11 RBI for Las Vegas. Despite the so-so numbers, Andy is one of the best slugging prospects in baseball. Consider him a must-add immediately in all deeper leagues, especially long-term keeper formats.

is this guy worth a pic up ?
3B is pretty deep this year; I don't know if he'd be worth anything more than as a backup 3B until we something from him.
If you're a battery, you're either working or you're dead....
He's one of the top 3B prospects and now has playing time, so he should definitely be on the radar, but he's more of a keeper and NL-only add now. Keep an eye on him.

I've seen Andy 3 times this year in triple A (Las Vegas) and he just looks over-matched at the plate. He projects to be a solid player but he's gonna need some time (as in years) before that happens . . . IMO.

I watched LaRoche play today in ATL; he didn't look overmatched at the plate at all to me. He went 1-for-4 with an RBI, and could have been 2-for-4 if not for a pretty good defensive play on a line drive he absolutely smoked into left. On top of that, he managed to not botch his first (and--I think--only) defensive play of the day. If you're in a NL-only, keeper, or deep mixed league, I think this guy is worth a shot if there's someone you're thinking about dropping.
