I ran into this today, and had to post it...it's M-Cab's game-winning RBI single off a supposed-to-be intentional walk pitch...

It's one of the most bizzare things that i've really ever seen in baseball, but it's quite funny at the same time :-b

I remember this. It was a great play, very heads up by Cabrera. Just such a weird play, that's something we won't see for years.

Funny how it is smart because he got a base hit. I'm sure he would have been "stupid" to swing at it if he had got out.

IMO I don' think he should have, so I think it's a little stupid.

Unforgettable play. It's one of those plays I always wondered about the possibility of. Imagine my shock when it actually happened. How bad would it have looked if he missed? :-D

I am getting old. Somehow I remember that one time Vladimir Guerrero hit an intentional walk pitch out of the ball park..home run..is it true or I am just making stuff up.

Yeah I was going to say this as well. I remember a couple years back Griffey swung at a pitch when they were trying to intentionally walk him because he was in a slump, I don't think he got a basehit out of it though.

Maybe the announcers and the media may have gotten on him for being "stupid", but they would have been wrong. Anytime a player the caliber of Cabrera has a pitch to hit, he should swing.

Now if it was someone on that team like Borchard or Olivo, it would have then been stupid if he popped up.

Wow. I AM old.......Johnny Bench...late '70's-early '80's, HR on attempted intentional walk.
