I'm watching on FSN too and just heard the same thing. Arthroscopic surgery and out at least 3 months. I traded away I Snell and O Hudson for him a week ago and thought I had a steal. Will have to drop him now as we have no DL.

Hrabosky and his TV partner said they just got the info from the Cardinals media staff. They said his elbow was stiff and had loss of motion. The good thing is that it is arthroscopic and not reconstructive surgery.

Is he worth holding onto? 3 months from now and its August, factor in rehab starts in the minors and we may be talking end of August. I have a DL spot in my league, but he may not be worth it at this point.

3 months is a long time to hold onto someone while they're on the DL. I would drop him personally. If anyone chooses to pick him up then it's their choice to hold onto him for that long period of time.

whoa.
Im just glad that I decided not to keep him in my keeper.
We kept 6, so that was a tough decision.

Carpenter to undergo elbow surgery
By R.B. FALLSTROM, AP Sports Writer
May 5, 2007

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter, sidelined since opening day with an elbow injury, will undergo arthroscopic surgery early next week after suffering a setback in his rehab program.

Carpenter, a 15-game winner last year and the NL Cy Young award winner in 2005, will be out at least three months, the team said Saturday. An exam on Friday with Dr. George Paletta, the team's medical supervisor, revealed recurrent swelling, stiffness and loss of motion.

Carpenter threw about 60 pitches to teammates in a simulated game on Tuesday in Milwaukee, and said he felt fine afterward. He went on the 15-day disabled list on April 10 with swelling in the elbow that developed a few hours after he allowed five runs in six innings in a season-opening loss to the New York Mets on April 1.

The surgery was announced during the game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. The Cardinals had been hoping Carpenter would return to the rotation on Tuesday.

good thing i have a 2 DL spots in my keeper league, but this still sucks. any chance he wont be the same pitcher after the surgery or pretty much the reason for the surgery is to make him 100% when he comes back
ummm lets go angels? :)
