I'm going to go with Tony Gwynn.
1. He had such a nice swing
2. He was so out of shape
3. I actually got to meet him and have my picture taken with him before the game. Nice guy, unusually high voice.
4. His last name didn't have any real vowels in it.
The real reason I'd put him as the best I've seen play is because of #3. Nice guy, although kind of fat.
Never saw him play, but honorable mention to my neighbor as well (until his unfortunate passing, RIP) Larry Doby.
Hm... play? I saw Guerrero in September, A-Rod earlier in the year... see, I haven't been to games much... Mike Piazza, because of all the Mets games... Mo Vaughn, wait, you mean GOOD players...
Those are the recent guys. Older guys, if I think back...
I'm trying to think of what HOFers I've seen play in person. My very first game I saw Carlton Fisk, so he might win by default. I bet I've seen Ripken play, but I can't remember right off.
Sure some good times watching RJ pitch, but I guess he'd fall into the future HOF category.
