I'm a Pirates fan and this is unf'n believable. Doumit is the only bat in the lineup that is hitting right now and they bench him for Nady?? Tracy is getting ripped by the local media here as well he should. The Pirates are the worst run professional franchise, from ownership down thru management and scouting. Here comes the 14th losing season in a row.

He's going to play. He's just not going to start every night. He'll play RF, 1b and C and probably get the equivalent of about 400 ABs for the rest of the year (barring injury).

In a perfect world, they should probably do a straight platoon in RF with Nady and Doumit.

And Doumit is NOT better than LaRoche.

My guess: Doumit will be a so-called super sub. He will spell Laroche at 1st, Nady in RF, and Paulino at C.

Tracy loves Nady and it will take a lot for Doumit to unseat him in RF. Laroche is seen as the savior of the offense and will be the regular 1b. I don't think the coaching staff views Doumit as a suitable everyday C. They question his defense and his ability to handle the staff (which Paulino excels at).
