Use it on Butler. Gallardo should get called up but Butler is the sure bet right now. If you miss out on Butler, then Gallardo is all yours.

I also think that Butler is more likely to make a positive impact this year than Gallardo. I've seen every one of his AB's this year, and it looks like he's been hitting major league pitching for years. I would not be surprised in the least to see him hit 310 this year.

As far as Gallardo goes, I am a huge fan, but there are a few things going against him this year. First, the Brewers' rotation is very strong, in which case Yo is only getting called up because of an injury (which you obviously can't predict...) Secondly, many young pitchers struggle initially in the bigs. If this were to happen, it may drive down the demand for him, allowing you to cash in once he gets going.

I know a lot of this is more speculation, but if you want to play the odds, Butler is much more safe, in my opinion...

I tend to disagree with the feeling that hitters are more ready when they come up. I have rarely seen the call up of a hitter impact a run at a championship. Pitchers may get knocked around a bit but when you can land one of the special ones, they tend to help out right away and make a huge impact on your actual fantasy squad. Prior, Felix, Jered Weaver, Cole Hamels, Rich Hill... this year could have been Phillip Hughes (was throwing a no hitter in his second start), Lincecum (we'll see... I'm hopeful). Anyway, you get the drift, I could name more but these are all guys in the last few years that have probably helped give fantasy teams that extra something going into Sep+.

Now with that said, I would probably still grab Butler in a non-keeper league for this year because Mil starters have been very good. Carlos Villanueva would most likely be next in line if one spot became available so Gallardo looks like a long shot to make the club anytime soon...

M. Gonzalez
Just traded BButler, BWood & JLoney for Mark Teixeira, Ryan Theriot & Renyel Pinto in a DYNASTY LEAGUE. Big gamble I know!
