Better Career

Postby Slow Pitch » Fri May 04, 2007 12:21 am

Which pitcher has the best future ahead of them?

I know both could be amazing but which one do you think is the safer bet to have the best career all things considered....

At this point I would have to say Lincecum. He has just been dominating at AAA and it sucks to see a young player like Hughes hit the DL so quickly.
Not to take away from Hughes as I think he is among the top young pitchers but if Lincecum's unique delivery proves to be such that it keeps him from the DL moreso than other pitchers I think that will be the difference maker.
Probably more wishful thinking than anything but I just think there's a chance that Lincecum might be able to stay healthy unlike so many other young pitchers.
Also, I think he has just as much talent as Hughes and maybe even more based on what he's done so far this year.

I voted for Hughes.
He's got better make up and not to mention he's 2 years younger then Lincecum, and pitching at the same level as him.

Hughes

Younger
Less violent motion
Better team
Didn't lose a crushing defeat to Cole Hamels in his first Major League start.
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

I have a hard time voting for either. If Linsickum is a reliever my vote goes to him. If they both start always, draw, with the risk/reward going to 'Sickem.

This is an easy one.

Careers in MLB are defined by Wins. Awards are handed out by Wins. HOF votes are based upon Wins. Right or wrong it is debatable sure, but it is what it is.
In knowing that, one guy will pitch for a winning organization year in and year out, and the other will pitch for an organization cursed by a rally monkey, and an idiot GM.

It is easily, Hughes.
