Paps is NOT hurt. Francona said post-game that Paps felt great, but he wanted to get him an extra day of rest in the hopes that it pays off in October.

Jonathan Papelbon was not brought in for a save opportunity Thursday against the Mariners.

The Red Sox didn't take the lead until Manny Ramirez's solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, so it's understandable that Papelbon wasn't in initially. However, he wasn't even warming up to begin the ninth. That he was in the bullpen -- and looking frustrated that he wasn't in the game -- means he must have been available in some capacity. However, it appears something is not quite right with him.

Good to hear...its funny...how come the extra days always come when there are back to back save opps....

If this is going to keep happening he's no longer a top tier closer and I don't even think he's second tier in H2H. IF it keeps happening. You can't have feast or famine from your top closer in head to head.

What are you talking about? If he keeps getting two days rest? This is the first time that has happened. If your talking about injury, well, as of yet there has been no injury announced, so maybe you could save your announcements of doom until after something happens.
