Are the Phillies REALLY on the verge of 10,000 all-time losses? That's 100 losses a year for 100 years! That just doesn't seem possible...

Pint glass. Would be pretty difficult to fit a box score on a shot glass.

The Phillies were founded back in the 1800s, so the have had like a 130 years to accomulate all those loses.

not just 10,000 losses, but the only team in professional sports with 10,000 losses. Not even the Blackhwaks!

Here are Retrosheet's current franchises which are from before 1900:
Atlanta Braves (1871-2006)
Chicago Cubs (1871-2006)
Cincinnati Reds (1882-2006)
Los Angeles Dodgers (1884-2006)
Philadelphia Phillies (1883-2006)
Pittsburgh Pirates (1882-2006)
San Francisco Giants (1883-2006)
St. Louis Cardinals (1882-2006)

That's 81 losses per year, every year, since 1883.

That is a LOT of losses, especially considering they played what? 150 games or so, for most of the last century?

Someone who knows more about this clear this up. How long have they played 162 games?
Keep wreves in General Talk in 2011!

Here is a complete list of records starting from 1883.

They've had some bad teams in Philadelphia so it wouldn't surprise me if they are approaching 10,000 Ls
