First ever Fantasy Baseball Season

Postby largeshow23 » Thu May 03, 2007 4:07 pm

I am in a 17 team league that uses the rotiserie scoring system. We drafted from the entire MLB. I have made 9 moves so far (75 max). Stats are:
Batting-AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB BB K E AVG
Pitching-IP W CG SHO SV BB K WP ERA WHIP
Here is my squad:

C Michael Barrett
1B Mark Teixeira
2B Marcus Giles
3B Adrián Béltre
SS Jimmy Rollins
LF Adam Dunn
CF Gary Matthews Jr.
RF Sammy Sosa
Util Albert Pujols
BN Luis Castillo
BN Chone Figgins
BN Preston Wilson
BN Jermaine Dye
SP Dan Haren
SP Chris Capuano
SP Rich Hill
RP Jason Frasor
RP Jeremy Accardo
P Dan Wheeler
P Kelvim Escobar
P Cliff Lee
BN Brett Myers

I'm in 9th overall but obviously I need a solid closer. I tried picking up tankersly but owens got the job, I picked up marcum when BJ ryan went out and Frasor got the job, another guy dropped Frasor so I picked him up and dropped tankersly and now he might be demoted etc etc etc.
What's a guy to do?? Try and make a trade or see what happens with the Frasor, Ryan, Accardo, myers situations?
Thanks All

why is dye on your bench? I do believe you should try to get a good closer. Try to sell high on guys that are doing really well right now, but their career numbers say otherwise. I'd think about guys like Dunn or Wheeler.

Not bad for a 17 team league. Unless pickings are scarce on the W.W. I would stand pat and try moving guys on a tear now or at least hitting. Possibly you may get someone to bite on Sosa or Sosa/Wheeler (I've seen crazier things in the past). I actually got an offer in my league for Dunn which was for Jenks but I held back because he may kill in K's and Avg. but the RBI's, HRs and his walks actually offset those other stats, plus he swipes a few bags. I wouldnt give him up so easily. If all else fails and a guy comes up from nowhere on the W.W. for saves I'd probably drop Preston Wilson for him. If you want to take a chance I'd make a deal for Joakim Soria or possibly Matt Capps. It is only a matter or time before he is closing for the Pirates.

I think I could get a closer for one of my RF, who should I shop Sosa or Dye? (please realize the last time I actually followed baseball up until this spring was when sammy and big mac were slugging them out)

Dye should be worth a Huston Street, Bobby Jenks mid-roud closer. Having him on your bench is just not usefull and he is a valueable trade chip, weather or not he has earned it.

Who thinks Sosa is going to have a "break out" season?? He's 0 for since I put him on the block.
