That Sucks I loved him being the DH and playing everyday from the Catchers spot :~(

Like I said in an earlier post...

Super Manny wrote:In Yahoo, he [Doumit] has eligibility at catcher, first base, and should be picking up outfield, as well. Over the last week, here are his numbers...

9-19 (.474 BA), 4 R, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 1 SB

I checked with Yahoo, and Doumit only needs one more start in the outfield to become eligible there. Because of his flexibility (and getting playing time in RF), he might be he closest thing to Piazza-like playing time you'll find from a catcher.

Problem is he probably will not get more then a few starts a week once Nady comes back.

Mike Piazza is expected to be sidelined 4-to-6 weeks with a strained AC joint in his right shoulder.

We're guessing Mike Lowell is going to receive some boos next time he shows up in Oakland. Piazza's absence will likely put Nick Swisher at DH now. This means the A's will be able to keep both Travis Buck and Dan Johnson in the lineup following Milton Bradley's return next week. Both Bradley and Shannon Stewart could see considerable time at DH once Swisher is healthy.

I need to make the selection between dropping him for either Doumit or Jojima.

Ummm... how is Johjima a FA? He's like the #5 catcher in the league...

Agreed. As high as these posters have been on Doumit, a lot of it has to do with the other FA options being the likes of Schneider, Oliva, et al ... if Joh is out there, get him pronto.

As far as Doumit goes he could be a flash in the pan. I also have Molina and Estrada out there. Doumit may not even be in the lineup in a week.

Is Doumit still the best choice because of a hot week over proven guys like Estrada and Molina?

I'm just gonna go with the hot catcher or "flavor of the week" to try and band-aid this till he gets back.

It's all you can really do at position like catcher which is so thin.

Doumit, here I come!

I picked up Estrada off the WW. Figured he's a .300 on a good team, it might pan out now that he's got most of the catching duties.
