who on this team can I drop for a backup catcher for Piazza? There arent really any good guys out there, and I am not sure how much of impact they will make. But I think I need to picksomeone up if Howard is not going to be playing regularly because then I will be down two sticks.

One change to roster below is I swapped out Peralta for Lopez.

Well I see several reasons for concern with your team:
1) SPs. You have no ace, and besides Cain, your pitching is not a threat.
2) Howard. I don't buy the hype (of last year).

NOTE: I would drop D Cabrera for a C backup. Is Doumit available? I'd take him over those you have posted.

Now, back to your team. I would attempt to trade Howard/Rolen/Some SPs for a solid 1B (though of lesser hype than Howard - Helton perhaps) and an Ace.

I tried to trade Howard before the season started to no avail. I have tried trading Rolen two since the beginning of the year and no takers as well. Pitching is actually the strength of my team because nobody else in my league carries more then five starters, so I win W's,K's every week and split on ERA, WHIP. My team has lost BA every week though, but have shown good power and speed.

at this point I dont think I will get equal talent back from Howard and would basically be giving him away.

Doumit only has 1B elgibility and still has 7 games to play behind the plate before I could use him.
