If u have a cuttable player grab him now
Just traded BButler, BWood & JLoney for Mark Teixeira, Ryan Theriot & Renyel Pinto in a DYNASTY LEAGUE. Big gamble I know!

is it worth grabbing Bailey now in a roto non keeper league?
i have both Contreras and Anthony Reyes and havnt started either of them in weeks and likely wont start either of them in the coming weeks, so either of them could be dropped for Bailey?
when could Bailey called up?

I would drop Contreras for him right now if you arent planning on starting him regularly unless he turned it around. Contreras wont get you sub 4.00 ERA anyways, and Bailey has the potential to be a top of the rotation starter right away upon being called up (Think Phillip Hughes and Tim Lincecum). It will probably be about a month, but if you arent planning on using Contreras anyway, what does it matter that his 5-6 starts would sit on your bench. You never know when a guy will get called up, and if you wait too long there is a good chance you will miss out on him.

thats what i was thinking.
i allready grabbed Lincecum a month ago and now hes starting along with my other top 4 starters that i start on a regular basis (Oswalt, Hill, Snell, Bush)

Yeah, I think you would be wise to do the same thing with Bailey. Especially now that Lincecum is up in the majors, you can afford to save a bench spot for Bailey.

should anything be put into the numbers Bailey had in spring training? or was that simply spring training where he was working on pitches?

i found some projections for Bailey this season over at fangraphs..
http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?pl ... position=P

CHONE- 4.94 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, .274 BAA, 93 IP, 99 H, 13 HR, 50 BB, 83 K
ZiPs- 4.50 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, .252 BAA, 126 IP, 120 H, 15 HR, 66 BB, 110 K

do those numbers seem fair? or realisitic?
those numbers seem awfully high.

Seems very high in my opinion...

I would project him:

3.95
1.35
7 ks / 9 innings

Something like that...I think he will be very good.

Bailey has control problems and only has two good pitches. He's working on his off-speed stuff now, but he's not looking great with it. I'm hoping he'll have a Bonderman type career where he utilizes his two great pitches and refines them, and eventually adds a third pitch.

Over at Sickels site they are speculating that he'll end up in the pen because of his control issues and lack of a third pitch. I think he's getting passed by on some prospect lists. I'm more excited about Gallardo and Adam Miller at this point.

latest news from rotoworld.com after Bailey's start last night..
Homer Bailey gave up one run and three hits over seven innings Monday in a victory for Triple-A Louisville.
Bailey struck out three and walked two. He still hasn't recorded more than five strikeouts in any of his six starts for Louisville, though he has a 1.83 ERA anyway.

i dont care for the low K's but 3 hits in 7 IP is nice ..and 2 BB in 7 IP, thats not bad eh.
i dont imagine there has been any word lately from Cincinnati on when Bailey could come up?
Milton's going tonight, im hoping he gets lit up

He is available in my league also. I don't think anybody in my league is aware of him either. Who would you drop for him? I'm leaning towards A. Wainwright..........
