Homer Bailey... remember him?

Postby Inukchuk » Wed May 02, 2007 6:17 pm

With all the big callups, and Lincecum going crazy, Homer seems to be a bit forgotten. So far this year, his K's are a little low, and his BB's are a little high, but his ratios are great. Anyone know if he's any closer to taking Milton's spot in the rotation, or is he more of an 08 guy? If I remember correctly, he was in the rotation mix in spring training...

Homer has funny eyes and bird lips....

But really, his K's are down because he's working on secondary stuff...he should/could be up in the bigs by late May/early June.

Just traded BButler, BWood & JLoney for Mark Teixeira, Ryan Theriot & Renyel Pinto in a DYNASTY LEAGUE. Big gamble I know!

I think Homer is going to great right away in the Majors. He is really being patient in the Minors and working on his secondary stuff....not trying to rack up ungodly strikeout totals to impress management, but really working on his pitches. I think a superstar will be born this year when he is called up. He has arguably the best stuff (definitely top 3) in the minors, so the fact that he is patient enough to work on being a true pitcher is very encouraging for his longterm growth. The crazy thing is that he still has good numbers in the minors despite not always throwing his best pitch.

I just traded Torres for him in my keeper, so hopefully he gets the call soon...

I think as soon as he develops a reliable change-up he'll be on the big club. Milton is going to get shelled 70% of the time, and with him in the last year of his contract the Reds will have to pay him whether they cut him/playhim or not.

I'd like to see when he comes up to start in the pen, then transition into being a starter.

Nooooo...dont start him in the pen. Bring him when they are ready to start him full time. My best guess is that will be in about a month or so. He is only throwing 5 innings or so each time right now anyway, so you shouldnt have to worry about burning him out this year.
