Just because ESPN said it was the "Longest name in MLB history" doesnt mean he can take McCann's job because of a bruised left pinky finger. :-°

Do you watch baseball??? Salty is a top C prospect and has been.

Thats true, but theres no way they move McCann from the catcher spot to make room for him. They just signed Brian to an pretty big extension. Braves will probably trade Salty for a good starting pitcher. Theres some talk about playing him at 1B(braves-nation.com), but who knows.

Oh i know, i was just pointing out its not like Salty is some bum, there is a reason people are excited. IMO he is better than McCann defensively and Offsensively, but thats just my 2.

Top catching prospect Jarrod Saltalamacchia is stuck behind a 23-year-old all-star (McCann) who recently signed a six-year contract extension. But the Braves say they aren't in any hurry to move "Salty" to a new position.

"He does work out at first base on a daily basis," manager Bobby Cox said. "He's such a good catcher, you hate to move him. But we have a good one, too.

"We're going to keep [Saltalamacchia] where he is right now, and see what happens."
