Jarrod Saltalamacchia is in Atlanta and might be purchased from the minors and activated to start Wednesday night, according to MLB.com. Brian McCann and backup Brayan Pena were both hit with swinging bats. McCann aggravated a bruised left ring finger, while Pena was hit on the head and might have a concussion.

Unless they turn him into a first basemen, or McCann has his hand amputated...this is a non-story.

he will be the bravos starting first baseman in the future.....it was discussed on local sports radio as being the plan of the organization.

;-D

he will play tonight and tomorrow and mcann should be back in there sometime this weekend. it was said that mcann could be availble as an emergency pinch hitter tonight.....but they want to give him two days rest.

Actually all through last year they talked about how much better they liked Uncle Salty as Mcann was tearing it up and people were going nuts over him (Mcann)

either Mcann or Saltamacchia could be moved to 1B (but Chipper has to go there eventually)..Salty could play some OF i heard as well

someone could be traded as well..Braves could use some SP help no?

Not a chance that McCann gets moved to 1B. Salty has done some work there before so if they keep him up with the big club then he will play 1B and Thor gets moved to LF.

It's Brian "Freaking" McCann. Salty wont take his job... he is a spot starting catcher. He will more than likely be sent back down in a week or two since McCann is rumored to be back by Sunday. And if he can't play 3B they don't need him that bad.

Just because ESPN said it was the "Longest name in MLB history" doesnt mean he can take McCann's job because of a bruised left pinky finger. :-°
