I'm not an Ollie owner, but he does look pretty good. His slider is filthy.

He still has mental lapses at points in the game, but he now has had only one bad start out of 5 or so total starts. That's encouraging. Next step for him is getting out of the first without giving up a run and getting past the 6th without breaking down.

Yeah, I just picked him up and am wondering how excited I should be about his performance to date. 36:10 K/BB ratio, 3.41 ERA, and a 3-2 record with a ton of run support. Gotta be excited about that.
But is this guy finally putting stuff together? Unfortunately I didn't start him today as I was weary of him getting rocked by the Marlins.

What have been this guy's issues the past few years? Was 2004 a fluke? Has he shown glimpses of 2004 the past couple of years, or has he just been a head case struggling with his command?

He started missing the zone and David Wright dropped a line drive hit at him. Had Wright made the catch, that would have been the third out of the inning. Because the bullpen was active and he was due up in the order it is unlikely he would have pitched another inning anyways. Also, the commentators were noting his high pitch count in the previous game. His slider was sharp most of the game and he was routinely dialing up his fastball to 93-95 when he had to. If he is able to continue to open games like that, and avoid falling into mental lapses around the 6th inning. He should be a fantastic fantasy starter this season.
