He just hit another HR in his first at bat today. I think we can finally say Sheff is back for sure.

so with his new speed status, are we to assume that the Yanks were holding him back on the bases the last few years? I know it's premature but he's on pace to be a 30-30 guy.

I'm lovin' it.
He's 38 years old... how about a 38-38 guy?
What's the oldest double/double any player has ever attained that matches his age?

Edit: 4 for 4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 SB
That'll do, Gary, that'll do.

Sheff is back to his old ways, and the best is yet to come. He is going to tear up May.

miracles
I can't see how this production is going to keep up.
My prediction: 20 HR 70 RBI and a .270 avg in an injury plagued end-of-career season.
I guess we'll have to just wait and see!

That's a very pessimistic prediction for the old man, considering his stats for previous 7 years before last year looked like this:
R/HR/RBI/AVG
103 34 101 .301
105 43 109 .325
98 36 100 .311
82 25 84 .307
126 39 132 .330
117 36 121 .290
104 34 123 .291
I'm comfortable predicting 95/30/110/.295, which I'll be very happy with.

So Sheff had one good game in a month and "he's back"?
I think he'll bounce back and post good numbers, maybe even elite ones, but to think "he's back" based on one game is just dumb.

I don't think the original poster ever used the phrase "solely because of today's game" in his statement. But after the last week of games...
9 2 4 1 .423
...I'm hoping he's back.
Granted most of the posters that are celebrating in this thread probably own him, so take it with a grain of salt, enjoy the discussion, and don't poop on our parade
