since Angel Guzman will be called up (Pie sent down most likely) what is the consensus on this kid. I remember last year everyone was "Lincecum" crazy for him, and he had some pretty rocky starts, but also pitched well in a few. What the overall Cafe' opinion of him? He has been pretty solid out of the pen (earlier this season). What kind of stuff does he have? Will he stay up if he pitches to his potential?
Thanks in advance.

his first start will be Sunday at home during the day to Washington.
Washington is one of the worst hitting teams in baseball.
this season in Iowa(Cubs AAA) he has the following stats..
2 GS, 0-1, 8.59 ERA, 7.1 IP, 10 H, 7 ER, 1 HR, 2 BB, 5 K, 1.64 WHIP
not what i would call that impressive.
his minor league numbers prior to this season..

Hmmm, intriguing. The thing that may be harder to estimate about minor league outings is if he was 'working on something' and tossing more changeups or curveballs or whatever up there than expected. I think that "Lincecum crazy" is probably a good phrase though. Or "Gordon crazy". Then again, you never know if the spaghetti will stick to the wall or not...
I'm not seeing anything about Pie being sent back down. Where is this coming from?
It would make sense since the Cubbies have too many OF, but the kid is not going to improve any more at AAA. He needs to stay in the majors if he's going to develop.
Looks like Guzman's start is not a done deal. Rotoworld says:
Angel Guzman might not start Sunday's game against the Nationals after he had another poor start for Triple-A Iowa.
''We might have to revisit this thing,'' manager Lou Piniella said. ''We could wait a little longer. We've got that option.'' Guzman gave up seven runs on four hits and four walks in three innings against Nashville on Tuesday. Carlos Marmol and Les Walrond are candidates to get the start if the Cubs decide to avoid Guzman.
As a fundamentalist from the Church of Tim Lincecum for the advancement of pitching. I must say that Guzman wasn't close to as good a prospect last year as Lincecum this year.

Pie will probably get sent down. Cedeno and Theriot are the only infielder backups, and they have Soriano, Floyd, Jones, Murton, and Theriot in the OF, and could even swith in Ward if needed. Cedeno can backup 2nd and SS, and Theriot (on top of OF) can play 2nd, 3rd, or SS. So, Pie is the most likely candidate to get sent down.
