Since he was in the Majors when he got hurt, he has to be on put on MLB's DL.
When he gets healthier, they might send him to the minors for rehab starts---if and when he comes back up is anybody's guess. In an odd way, the injury might benefit him by saving his arm some IP this year.

Only for the 15 days eh'? 4-6 weeks >>> 15 days
what? huh?
The question in the thread is, might the Yankees send him to the minors today instead of the DL and the answer is, they can't. He has to be put on the Major League DL (for X days), and not on a minor league DL, since he was hurt in the Majors.
For what it's worth, I do agree with you that "4-6 weeks >>> 15 days" but no clue what the hell you are talking about.
May 7 Bryan Hoch, of NewYork.Yankees.MLB.com, reports New York Yankees SP Philip Hughes (hamstring) threw on flat ground Sunday, May 6. The team also learned that Hughes' injury might not be as serious as the MRI taken Saturday, May 5, suggested.
That's good news for the Yankees. They may end up getting Clemens and Hughes back in the rotation at the same time. Quite a boost.

Maybe s/he thinks the 15 days are the maximum, not the minimum
