Atkins not getting it done............

Honestly Atkins is not a 25 + hr hitter. Last season is the only year he's ever done it in his entire career (including minors) so to expect him to hit that many again this season is highly unlikely. He's never hit more then 15 home runs before last season.

I could see 17-22hrs with right around 100 rbis and 100 runs, give or take. Not to mention a BA of around 310. Still productive, but no where near last season. My only problem with Atkins is 3b is a homerun position.
I see Atkins as the Todd Helton of 3b.

This is exactly what I`m hoping for----but he`s gotta pick it up, WAY up, for it to happen.

Yeah---RP = RBI + Runs - HRs. That is a category in our league. Off the top of my head, Atkins led the NL and maybe even the majors in RP in 2006 with over 200 of those suckers.

Atkins got off to an inauspicious start last season. He only really started tearing it up in the second half when the Colorado air started heating up. Be patient with the guy and you'll be rewarded. His numbers right now aren't even that bad.

I appreciate your encouragement---but............

Atkins started VERY strong last year. Thats why I drafted him as a relative unknown.
APRIL 2006---Atkins batted .364 4 HR 18 RBI and 11 Runs!

June was the month he went totally nuts with run production---but he pretty much led the majors in Run production from the start of the season. His lowest monthly AVGs were June-August which were 318, 311 and 309.----So ,respectfully, he had a pretty auspicious start to 2006.

You're right. My memory didn't serve me well there. His OPS did climb steadily after July 1st, but he was a run scoring machine wire to wire. For some reason I remember him really heating up in the second half. I was an Atkins owner last year and kept him this year, so I don't know how I got that wrong.

I'm more worried about him getting moved down in the lineup, because that's sure to cut into last year's beefy run totals. I'm pretty hopeful that he'll get back to around .300-.310 by the end of May, but I haven't been watching him play much this year, so I don't know what's holding him back so far.
