Alex Gordon: When will he heat up? (If ever)

There's obviously no question about Gordon's talent, but for purposes of 2007, is Gordon going to turn into a viable fantasy option? There have been some miniscule signs of improvement lately but is there any reason to believe he can emerge prior to late-season?

Well it seems all these hyped up guys come up and don't do so well. So I'm gonna say next year.

There aren't many that come up and immediately produce.

But there are lots of guys you've never heard of or under the radar that do.

Then again its only may 1st :-D
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

I watched Gordon all through College here at Nebraska. He's a good guy, a decent-to-good 3rd basemen, and he's got some OK pop in his bat.

The only thing is, he faded in the postseason pretty much every year. His senior year when we needed him the most he was almost nonexistent in Regional play, and we got bounced. Those are the kinds of guys that he's playing against now - the best of the best. In that company he does not stand out.

I personally have always thought he was over-hyped. There's a reason he spent four years in college. There are questions about his ability and his mental state that he hasn't answered yet. Will he answer those questions? Possibly. But he may well end up a middle-tier 3B for his whole career.

I searched for the thread where you mentioned this but I couldn't find it. Could you direct me in the right location? Maybe I'm just overlooking it....

I remember trying to temper alot of expecations with him this preseason but I was definately in the minority.

first 12 games: 0 BB, 16 K
past 12 games: 11 BB, 13 K

he hasn't exactly been 'heating up' (although he's 6 for 21 over the past 7 games) but those numbers are at least a good sign in general

Can't say I recall mentioning it before, but then I can't remember clicking on a previous Alex Gordon thread, either. I might have said something in passing but nothing like ^^^ up there.
