I posted it in another forum as well:

PECOTA gives Pence a higher VORP though Butler has a slightly higher upside, probably because of his youth.
The lower VORP on Butler is probably because of his defense, which is atrocious.

For THIS YEAR ONLY, Pence is probably a better pick.

Butler is what 4 years younger than Pence?

Without question.

who would u say is comparable to Pence... currently...

For anyone who doesn't know, Baseball Prospectus tends to compare players not only to a specific historical (or current) player, but a specific year in that player's career.

BP has Butler's #1 comparable as Vernon Wells (circa 2000), followed by Michael Restovich (circa 2000), Albert Pujols (circa 2001), Joe Crede (circa 1999), Reuben Mateo (circa 1999), Justin Morneau (circa 2002), you get the picture.

I've heard a few Bay/Pence comparisons.

Yahoo! seems to be taking their time putting Butler into the system.

I will go ahead and say that KC will give Butler every opportunity in the world to stick in the OF. Even if he ultimately fails out there and becomes the DH I'd almost guarantee that KC still runs him out in the OF 10 or so times a year that he will keep OF eligibilty in fantasy leagues....at least yahoo.

Just my opinion.

U should know Yahoo by now.

They make guys(b4 season) like HBailey, TLinceum & BWood available and not PHughes.

Then they make PHughes available b4 he starts & not BButler.

Go Figure!
Just traded BButler, BWood & JLoney for Mark Teixeira, Ryan Theriot & Renyel Pinto in a DYNASTY LEAGUE. Big gamble I know!
