anyone have an update on Mr. Injured? I have him on my DL spot in a roto league in which saves are tough to come by and the category is very tight so a crappy closer can be worth a bunch of points. I now have Thome and El Duque on the DL too. Is Wood worth holding on to?

It's possible he doesn't throw a pitch this year, but he is not determined to be out for the year yet (that's Prior).

He's suppose to start playing catch this week.

Even if he does come back, no reason to think he wil be anything other than a mop up man or a MR facing a couple righies. No team in there right mind would make any kind of solid plans that include him in a key role.

If he comes back I'd pick him up - good MR have value in a lot of leagues. But I wouldn't pick him up until he actually throws a pitch.

If he comes back and stays healthy it wouldn't surprise me if he is closing for the Cubs

Anyone else? If you think they wouldn't put Wood in a key role what the hell do you think about Dempster being their close? He is a horrible closer despite having good numbers so far this year. Wood has the heat and the mentality to be a closer and not the arm to pitch 200 IP a year so why not give him a shot at closing?

Yeah Kerry Wood has the mentality to be a closer for sure... I've seen him save so many games he's definitely proven it with his play... hahaha... sarcasm. Why is it assumed Kerry Wood has the makeup to be a closer? I think it's laughable, the fact is, everyone still seems to be dazzled by his blazing fastball... which who knows if it's even blazing anymore. You were right in saying he doesn't have the makeup to throw 200 innings in a season... kudos.
